STI Enhanced Surveillance Pilot - "InstantAtlas"

Data collected from the three GUM clincs participating in the STI Pilot by PCT is available to view here using "InstantAtlas" by Geowise, a commercially produced mapping display system used for the representation of health protection data. The data available includes numbers of infections by PCT of residence in the North West, and rates of infections by PCT of residence for selected PCTs in the North West.

Data only includes records where a sex and PCT of residence has been allocated, and does not include individuals attending GUM clinics not participating in the STI Pilot, irrespective of their PCT of residence. Data used to calculate rates may include individuals attending more than one GUM clinic participating in the STI Pilot in the same time period, and individuals diagnosed with the same infection at the same clinic more than once in the same time period. Rates for age and sex breakdowns of total infections may include individuals more than once where they are diagnosed with concurrent infections. More information on each data item can be found by clicking on the title at the top of each map.

A guide on using "InstantAtlas" can be found here

In order to use "InstantAtlas" you will need to download and install a scaleable vector graphics (SVG) viewer. You can download both PC and Mac versions of the SVG viewer for free direct from the Adobe website. If your computer is on a network you may need to be logged on as an administrator to succesfully install the viewer. Please contact your network administrator for more information.

"InstantAtlas" works almost instantaneously, however there may be a slight delay on first use while SVG installs the relevant information onto your own PC. This download CANNOT harm your computer, and is the same technology that is used by the Office for National Statistics on the Census 2001 site.
