| The North West Public Health Observatory is one
of nine regional public health intelligence organisations forming a national network.
We work closely with the Department of Health, Health Development Agency, Office
for National Statistics and others.
The NWPHO provides a resource to local agencies, populations and networks,
with comprehensive access to public health information and expertise to inform
and shape health policies and best practise. Nationally, the North West is the
leading Observatory in health protection and substance misuse and is committed
to using new technologies to deliver intelligence systems and reduce inequalities.
Our outputs include research reports, bulletins and online data and intelligence
systems on topics such as: smoking, communicable diseases, sexual health, AIDS/HIV,
drug misuse, ethnic health, accidents and injury, dental health and alcohol.
