To use this feature please refer to the following instructions.

  1. To read messages that have already been posted click on the forum title on the first page (North West Public Health).
  2. To post a new message and create a new subject click the 'Post a new message to North West Public Health'.
  3. To reply to an existing message click 'post a reply' which is situated within the message you want to reply to. This results in your reply being associated with the original message, commonly known as threading.
  4. When you submit a message to the forum your name and e-mail address will be stored as a 'cookie' on your local machine. This will mean you will not have to keep re-entering your details for each posting. This is a normal procedure for a web based application and does not compromise your security or system integrity in any way.
  5. The search function is self explanatory and basically searches for words or subjects submitted by the user from the archive of past postings.

Guideline's for using the discussion forum.

  1. When you send a message it will be read by a variety of people, on a variety of computers. Please be aware of this and be considerate towards the other users of this service.
  2. When you send a message, you are doing it either for the benefit of other users, or to gain benefit the other people using the forum. Please bear this in mind.
  3. Don't flame! A flame is when you call someone names, are overtly rude, or are blatantly sarcastic or condescending. It looks immature and unprofessional. Anything worth saying can, and must, be stated in polite terms.
    Remember that a large audience will see your messages, so be careful what you write. Also remember that people may keep a copy of your messages and your messages will be archived by the NWPHO.
  4. Respect copyright. Copyrighted material is anything that anybody creates. When you create something, you own the exclusive right to copy it. Someone else's e-mail, an article from an on-line periodical, material on a webpage, messages posted on a list, are all explicitly or implicitly copyrighted. So, broadly speaking, it could be a breach of copyright to forward messages from this forum without the author's permission.
  5. This forum is for the discussion of Health related issues. Please do not use it as a vehicle for unsolicited advertising of a commercial or personal nature.
